Many of us equate “blessings” with material possessions. We say we are “blessed” only when we are endowed with material things. Little do we realize that sometimes these can even be a bane to an otherwise peaceful life.
If we possess the attitude of gratitude, when we make it a habit to always open our heart to thank the Creator of everything whenever something good comes along, that alone is already a blessing. Good attitude is not always present everywhere. If we have nothing except that attitude, then we are blessed and we are set up to have everything that gives us joy. We find joy even in the littlest of things.
Joy is the ultimate gift. That is what everyone seeks in every endeavor. Sadly, in seeking, many only find happiness. Happiness is temporary because it is attached to some things temporary that when gone, the happiness is gone too. Joy is lasting and attached to contentment, contentment that is present despite the absence of conditions. Happiness is conditional- anchored on people, things or events. Joy is unconditional. It is embedded deep inside regardless of circumstances. In that place inside, that where God is, working on even perfecting the blessing of goodness and joy.
Every moment is a moment of miracle while we are alive. From the moment we wake up, to the time we sleep and wake up again to a new day, that cycle alone is a miracle. That we are breathing, that we are breathing air that gives life, that we have food on the table, that we have water, that we have roof to protect us, that we have a place to sleep in, that we have a family, that we are walking around, that we can still praise God, that God still listens, all these and many, many more are blessings.
Counting indeed matters if we count with gratitude. In doing this, we flourish, we grow and we move forward with so much joy in our soul. As we count, we elevate ourselves to that level where love stirs our every beat.
What a beautiful world it would be if we all sync this way. It will be a blessing without doubt.
