Obsessed

Being obsessed is a good thing if for the right goal and purpose.

Being obsessed with achieving a goal that will add to the good of all, like completing projects that will benefit our fellowmen and leave a legacy for the next generation is a pleasing and positive endeavor.

Being obsessed with being a good parent to raise children who are respectful, kind and God-fearing; with having money goals so as to have the ability to support the church and the less fortunate among us; with having business goals to serve stakeholders with excellence so that their experience with us is meaningful; with becoming someone who contributes to society rather be a burden to it, making our life useful; with building ourselves so that we are able to be productive citizens; with starting and finishing a book and express our thoughts, these published thoughts outlive us; with finding solace as we walk towards getting closer to our Maker, are obsessions that have evergreen impact and leave a mark that will remain echoing even when we have gone to the next life.

Nothing is achieved unless we are committed to achieving. It is not enough that we lay our dreams on the vision board. No result can be achieved without the right action. Activities can only convert to result when activities are aligned to the goal. Apart from our dream board then, there is a commitment board where the realistic and measurable actions penciled explicitly.

Be obsessed then with committing to not only the goal but the action. When all these are blended together, we have a lovely blueprint of our purpose in life. Then we can wake up each morning excited to face the day with all the predictabilities and unpredictabilities rolled into what we call “good day”. As we move towards the end of each day, we can sleep in peace because we have done our purpose for the day and tomorrow takes care of itself.

With commitment and love as we do what needs to be done, we can say with confidence, “this is the day that the Lord has made”. Our obsession to do the good thing is our own reward.

To your joy,

Joji
