When you want to write but nothing comes out. When you want to go somewhere but it seems there is nowhere to go. When you want to do something but you don’t know where to start. Does this happen to you?
This is when it seems there is a blank space, a void one cannot define. When you’re surrounded with too much clutter yet you feel you have nothing, is this what one would call a confused state or simply a temporary feeling of emptiness?
This is confinement- a prolonged one in this pandemic situation. The isolation, the distancing, the feeling of unseen danger is too threating to even challenge. The daily grind of risk avoidance or risk mitigation is too much to face when an unseen virus is lurking- no one knows where they are, are they far or are they near. No one, not one knows.
The sad part, the virus is there.
The Bible says, “Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial”. This is true. Especially at this time of Covid-19, nothing is truer than this, no time more applicable than now. Before venturing out of the house, think. Is it beneficial?
Staying home, working from home, these have become the way of life. The downside? The bane of confinement, of being within the walls of the home day in and day out, affects our moods. When moments of vexation hits, temper becomes short, sadness hits and the feeling of joy ebbs.
When this happens, know that it is temporary. Find ways to refresh your soul. Submit in quiet time with God; be blank if you have to with God. This is your moment to filled with His grace and be empty no more.
Be in the moment.
To hope.
