Been mulling about success lately and I’ve come to thoughts that there are three kinds of success. One is the success in our own eyes, second is the success in the eyes of others about us and the third is success in the eyes of God.
Have been looking at the perspective of the scriptures and I’ve come to a personal conclusion that success in the eyes of God is what every Christian aims for. Doing what God wants us to do and giving honor to Him in what we do is itself success. If we do what we do out of obedience to God’s appointment for us, then he will bring us to the top of the leadership hierarchy He Himself is designing for us. As the scripture says, “you will always be the head, never the tail”, that is if we have surrendered to God’s rulership in our lives.
What now is more meaningful for us, success in our own eyes or success to conform with how society perceives us?
If we strive to achieve results to please others, then we labor in pain along the way. Doing so diminishes the light and the joy in reaching our goals. What should be a cheerful journey becomes a compliance and a forced achievement. Why? Because we work towards a destination not defined by ourselves with the guidance of God but one that’s engineered by others for us. It is their dream they failed to achieve for themselves, therefore, they pin their dream on us. Then, when we make it they are happy. What about us now?
It is important to know what we want and ask God for wisdom in execution while seeking God’s counsel if such is His orchestration for us. Only then can we move forward with the light of God in our journey.
Let us always seek to move with light hovering above us, securing us inside its bubble. God’s gentle breeze and illumination follow us if we set our hearts to be always in alignment with the beautiful plans of God for us.
Lastly, success is not about defeating others, it is about making others win along with us in victory. More meaningful it will be if we lift others as we soar.
To your success,
Joji
